Years ago, Granges were expected to maintain libraries–some still do. But this page is about a slightly different type of library that makes a great community service project.
Why not have a book exchange program at your Grange Hall? It is a community center. Right?
It’s a straightforward project — you can complete it. Start simple.
To help you get started, we are offering some resources and ideas. The following pages will help.
- Outside Libraries: These are commonly accessible from an external location, most often at the Grange Hall, but can be located anywhere.
- Inside Libraries: Various forms of libraries located inside Grange Halls.
- Sources for Books: When you need more, here are some sources.
- Existing Libraries: A few examples of BEBs and libraries.
- Templates and Documents: Some items that might be helpful.
Please note that “Little Free Library®” is a registered trademark. You cannot refer to your program as such unless you register with the organization. We’ll be using the term “Book Exchange Box” (BEB) to describe unregistered libraries.
Start by keeping the idea simple. We’re here to help!
