Resources For Granges

This page offers access to videos produced by the Maine State Grange Communications Department on a wide variety of topics that are informative and inspirational. For documents such as Program Books and Forms, visit the Program Books and Information Page.

There are several ways to view the complete library of videos listed below. One is on the Maine State Grange YouTube Channel–this may be the easiest for those familiar with YouTube. This page offers a second method–since each video is also embedded in its own post, we’ll attempt to list those posts here. Clicking the associated link will open the original post in a new window.

  • National Grange “How to Create a Facebook Page for your Grange” video. Almost everything you want to know about creating a Facebook Page for your Grange. (Created by National Grange, on their channel.)
  • Jonesboro Grange – How they are doing it While most Granges found the pandemic limiting, Jonesboro Grangers found it brought them together.
  • Overview of the Grange Heirloom Program The Grange Heirloom Program was truly over 150 years in the making! Find out where it came from, what it does, and some ideas for how you might use it both personally and in your Grange.
  • How to Sponsor a Garden Tour — Thanks to Barb Bailey from Victor Grange you now have a lot of information about how to set up a garden tour in your community. We recorded a fun interview with Barb that accompanies a thorough instruction booklet with samples of ideas you can use.
  • Jefferson Grange Gets Going! In an exciting and upbeat interview with Amanda Brozana Rio, find out how this Grange reorganized and then doubled its membership in the first three months!
  • Knitting for Kids — Here’s an “easy peasy” program your Grange can start that leverages the common practice of Granger’s knitting and creates an opportunity to provide hats and mittens to children in our local communities.
  • How did Highland Lake Grange do it? — An interview with Dave Gowen, Master; Larry Levesque, Overseer; and Joann Levesque, Steward; exploring some of the recent successful programs they’ve developed. Larry and Joann are also chairs of the Supper Committee. Find out how they nearly doubled supper attendance in spite of the pandemic limitations.
  • The Maine Grange Foundation–An interview with Steve Verrill and Vicki Huff describing some basics of the Maine Grange Foundation and how it can be used by community Granges. Vicki is a long-time Granger, past president of the Maine State Grange, and currently serves as Maine State Grange Treasurer. Steve is also a long-time member, past president of the Maine State Grange and currently serves on the State Grange Executive Committee. Steve was largely responsible for the formation of the Foundation.
  • Let’s Keep Going! — In the midst of the pandemic, what are the options and resources available to Granges that want to keep going! We interview National Grange Communications Director Amanda Brozana Rio to hear some examples of success from around the county and some often undiscovered resources available to Granges who want to keep going!
  • The Dictionary Project at Valley Grange–In the midst of the pandemic, Valley Grange in Guilford faced a serious challenge–how do we present nearly 200 third graders with a dictionary if they can’t visit us and we can’t visit them!? Watch this short video for some ideas and information that you can apply to your Words for Thirds Program and some reasons why you may want to start one!
