I belong to a group dedicated to preserving heirloom seeds in Maine. We are planning a large bean supper this fall and were wondering what the favorite beans varieties were in each county for traditional bean suppers. Any information you may have would be appreciated. Thank you, Jon Thurston
Jon, While we have no such information, I will post your question/request we’ll see if anyone responds. It is an interesting question! We have one member in our Grange in Guilford who insists on Jacob’s Cattle Beans. Another I’m familiar with uses either Navy or Pea Beans. I’ve “heard” some are buying canned beans and putting them in a beanpot! Good luck with your supper!
