An Encouraging Word!

Granges are active in 1500 communities nationwide and we are 140,000 members strong. A few states are seeing massive growth in membership numbers, and (more importantly, in my opinion) activity and presence in their communities. Members are joining because they are proud of the work being done by the Grange and proud of the way their members are talking about the Grange.

Highland Lake Grange Marks Members

While placing American flags in Highland Lake Cemetery, the Grangers at Highland Lake Grange P of H No. 87 thought it would be nice to mark the graves of members interred at the cemetery. Kathy Gowen came up with a design, and we worked together to assemble them at our last meeting. We identified 16 headstones of members (including married couples or multiple members in a family with one headstone). Several were charter members of Highland Lake Grange in 1875. Here are photos of a few of them.

Topsham Grange Recognition

Merton Ricker of Lisbon was recently recognized for his 75-year membership in the Grange. Merton has held many offices within Topsham Grange #37, Pine Tree Grange, Sagadahoc Pomona, and Maine State Grange. He is seen here with Topsham Grange President, Michael Labbe.

Victor Grange Shares News

Victor Grange is located in Fairfield Maine.

Not only does the spring issue of Victor Grange’s newsletter list all their meetings and events, but there’s also some exciting news in this issue! You’ll want to read it! You’ll learn how Victor received an AED (automated external defibrillator) and maybe wonder just how many Granges in Maine have one. You’ll meet seven relatively new members who have finally been officially recognized. Where did 100 new chairs come from? (And what’s special about some of the ones being replaced.)

Victor Grange describes itself as “The Grange built by the community, for the community to fill the needs of the community.”

Important Trademark Information

Remember that the Grange emblem is a registered trademark, so the full Grange emblem should always include the (R) symbol. Many publications and other locations only have the old TM included, which is no longer correct. To ensure that our trademark is protected, it’s important to get this updated on websites, social media, program guides, and more. Meanwhile, the Grange Youth and Junior Grange logos are only trademarked by the Grange, so only have the TM options. The current logos are available here.

Grange Month Calendar

As a reminder, the “Raised Right Here” theme lasts through 2023, so if you didn’t think about using the theme in this year’s Grange Month programming, be sure to start thinking about it for 2023!
