“Inside Libraries” means libraries located within (inside) the Grange Hall. As such, they can take many forms. One important point is whether the library is a lending library or an exchange library. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lending Libraries<\/strong> typically operate similarly to public libraries. People “sign out” or borrow books that are to be returned. For example, Kennebec Valley Grange #128 in Madison maintains a library of homesteading-related books that can be borrowed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exchange Libraries<\/strong> operate much the same as outside libraries \u2014 the only difference is the location. People exchange books they’ve read for ones they haven’t. In most cases, exchanges aren’t strictly enforced. For example, Valley Grange #144 in Guilford maintains a crate of children’s books that are offered to kids who attend meetings and events. They can read them while at the hall or take them home if they promise to read and share them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
