These are some examples of how Granges are handling libraries and exchange programs. We’d love to add yours!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ocean View Grange<\/strong> in Port Clyde went from an idea to completion quickly. The idea came from someone who has a bit of a hobby of filling area libraries, and she suggested the Grange would make a great location! The idea truly took on a life of its own. Interestingly, much of the work that went into the project was completed by folks who are not Grange members. Yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mill Stream Grange<\/strong> in Vienna will have its library open this fall (2025) thanks to Junior Granger and Girl Scout Caroline Heck. Caroline is working on her Girl Scout Silver Award for raising awareness of the importance of childhood literacy. Her project involves building and placing an LFL at the Grange, as well as educating the community about the importance of access to books in early childhood. Mill Stream Master Jill Sampson is serving as her Project Advisor. Caoline’s already collected over 200 booksand is putting together a fantastic outreach project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valley Grange<\/strong> in Guilford maintains a “Book Bin” (tote) for kids who attend meetings and programs. Not only does reading provide something for them to do during visits, but we also encourage them to take home one book in exchange for a promise to read it. We also maintain a supply of dictionaries for visiting third graders who haven’t received one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kennebec Valley Grange<\/strong> in Madison offers a lending library featuring books and magazines primarily focused on homesteading and food preservation topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
