Available for viewing and downloading from the site<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Libraries and Museums<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/library.umaine.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Raymond H. Fogler Library, University of Maine<\/a> not only has a fairly extensive collection, the website has an excellent search function.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/library.umaine.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Page Farm and Museum<\/a>, University of Maine <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/mainestatemuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maine State Museum<\/a>, probably best for general agricultural information. A quick search revealed nothing specific to the Grange.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Historical Societies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local historical societies often have items and information regarding Granges in the community or area.  A <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/portal\/about_me\/historicalsoc.html\" target=\"_blank\">list of historical societies in Maine<\/a> can be found on the State of Maine Website. Some that have more extensive or specific records are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mainehistory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maine Historical Society<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bethelhistorical.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bethel Maine Historical Society<\/a> use the search function in the research library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cantonmehistory.org\/history-story-grange\" target=\"_blank\">Canton Historical Society<\/a> traces the history of the former <strong>Canton Grange<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/eliothistoricalsociety.org\/wiki\/john-f-hill-grange\/\" target=\"_blank\">Elliot Historical Society<\/a> has an article about the <strong>John F. Hill Grange<\/strong> (also referred to as the Elliot Grange and <strong>Piscataqua Grange #393<\/strong>.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/hopehist.com\/Himages\/HD407.html\" target=\"_blank\">Hope Historical Society <\/a>has an article tracing the history of <strong>Hope Grange<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pihistory.org\/historic-properties\/maysville-grange.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Presque Isle Historical Society<\/a> owns the former <strong>Maysville Grange Hall<\/strong> and operates it as a museum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/scarboroughhistoricalsociety.org\/\">Scarborough Historical Society<\/a> has a special section on its website dedicated to documents regarding the Grange. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mainething.com\/alexander\/history\/grange.htm\" target=\"_blank\">The Maine Thing<\/a> (provided by the Alexander-Crawford Historical Society) includes historical information about <strong>Alexander Grange #304<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.starlinghall.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Friends of Starling Hall <\/a>is a 501(c)3 formed specifically to raise funds to renovate the Starling Grange Hall in Fayette. The building is owned by the town and the FOSH is continuing its renovation as a Community Center. There is a substantial amount of Grange memorabilia and articles stored in the Grange Hall.&nbsp; That material is under the guidance of the Fayette Historical Society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Miscellaneous<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mainepublic.org\/show\/maine-calling\/2019-05-03\/granges-in-maine-the-historic-role-of-the-grange-as-rural-community-center-and-how-it-has-evolved\" target=\"_blank\">Maine Calling &#8212; The Historic Role of the Grange<\/a> is a one-hour Maine Public Radio Program featuring past state master Vicki Huff and communications director, Walter Boomsma<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/maineanencyclopedia.com\/grange-the\/\">Maine &#8212; an Encyclopedia<\/a> includes photos of several Grange halls and highlights contributions of the Grange throughout history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Grange_Hall_buildings\" target=\"_blank\">List of Grange Hall Buildings<\/a> on Wikipedia is not limited to Maine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/townline.org\/up-and-down-the-kennebec-valley-the-grange-part-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Town Line weekly newspaper<\/a> published several articles about the history of Granges in Kennebec Valley.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately, there is no central repository for historical information about Granges in Maine.
