Lakeside and Franklin Grange are sponsoring this wonderful event to raise founds for our continuous work throughout our communities. Come learn how to make a “Mail Basket.” Guaranteed to share laughter and fun!

Lincoln Pomona Installation

Lincoln Pomona (with County Subordinate granges who wish) is having installation on September 12 at 7:30pm at Huntoon Hill Grange in Wiscasset following a 6:30 pot luck supper. Call Rick at 582-5915 for more info.

Lincoln Pomona, Fifth Degree

Lincoln Pomona will be doing the 5th degree on Saturday, August 8 at Willow Grange in Jefferson village. Pot luck supper at 6:30, meeting begins at 7:30.Our inspecting officer, Glenys Ryder, Maine State Executive Committee will be present. For more info, call Rick Grotton at 582-5915.

Androscoggin Installation

The Officers of Androscoggin Pomona Grange #1 will be installed on Wednesday September 2 at Excelsior Grange on Harris Hill Road in Poland.  Maine State Grange Deputy Bob Smith and his team will be doing the installation.  There will be a $5.00 paid supper at 6:30 with a 7:30 meeting.  Steven Haycock of Danville Junction Grange will be installed as Master.  All are welcome to attend.

 

Wayside Grange Variety Show

Sat. Sept. 26, Variety Show – includes local musicians, poetry and satirical skits.  This year’s skit will include characters we’ve all suffered on the supermarket and convenience store check-out lines, ala Key and Peele. Wayside Grange Supper

Garland Days

September means Garland Days at Garland Grange. This year the town’s annual fair will be held on September 10, 11. 12, and 13, 2015. Garland Grange is a very active part of this event. The theme for 2015 is Applelicious.

Starting out on Thursday night, September 10, Garland Grange will host the Garland Days Pie Baking Contest. Pies can be dropped off after 4 pm, judging is at 6 pm. This annual event has four categories: this year (of course) Apple, Fruit, Cream, Other, plus a Kids Category. Anyone who wishes can submit a pie. If you want your pie plate returned to make sure that your name is on it. Garland Grange is always looking for judges. Qualifications for pie judges are the desire and ability to eat pie. If you are interested in being a judge, please contact Andrea Rollins at 717-7027. After the pies are judged, they will be served Friday night at the Historical Society’s Pie and Ice Cream Social. Results will be available at that time as well.

While the pie judging is taking place, Garland Grange will host John Bunker from Fedco Trees. He is an expert on apples especially antique varieties. He will be discussing the history of apples in Maine or more specifically, Garland. He will be speaking starting at 7:00 pm.

Friday night, Garland Grange will take a break to enjoy other Garland Days events in order to rest up for the weekend.

Starting on Saturday, September 12, Garland Grange will host a number of Applelicious events. American Legion Beano takes place at the Grange Hall from 10 to 3 on Saturday. Garland Grange will have lunch on sale including hot dogs, soda and more. Saturday night starting at 5:00 pm, Garland Grange will  serve their Baked Bean Supper. Menu includes baked beans ,hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, homemade bread and desserts including apple crisp. ALL YOU CAN EAT  for only $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for children ages 5 to 12, under age 5 FREE. Takeout is available.

Following the Baked Bean Supper, there will be a Family Contra Dance held upstairs at the Grange Hall. Family friendly live music, and all dances are taught. Caller is John McIntire and music by Some Reel People. Admission to the dance is $7.00 per person on $12 per family. FMI on the Contra Dance call 277-3961 or 924-3925.

Sunday morning, September 13, Garland Grange wakes up early to serve Garland Days Breakfast from 7 to 10 am. Menu includes eggs made to order, sausage, bacon, home fries, toast, juice, coffee and more. ALL YOU CAN EAT for $7.00 for adults, 43.00 for children ages  5 to 12, under age FREE.

After breakfast is done, American Legion Beano resumes at the Grange Hall from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. Garland Grange will again have lunch items on sale.

There are a number of other events going on all weekend as part of Garland Days including a parade, kids games, educational events, Cow Flop Raffle, Dead Car Raffle, Pig Scramble and more. Check out the Garland Days Facebook page for a complete listing of events.

Parkman Military Appreciation Dinner

The Parkman Grange is having our 4th annual military appreciation supper on 9-19 from 4-6PM.  This a free meal for active and retired military, all others by donation.  Menu: ham, baked beans, cole slaw,  casseroles and a variety of desserts   Located on Hwy 150 and North Dexter road.  Contact Sue Manchester, Parkman Grange master, 277-3942 for more info.

Androsoggin Pomona “Go to Church”

Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange #1 will attend the Minot Center Congregational Church on Sunday August 2 for their Annual Go to Church Sunday.  Members will meet at the church at 8:45am prior to the 9am service.  Following the service members will hold their annual planning meeting for 2016 program.  All Pomona members are encouraged to attend to let their and their Granges opinions known.  Following the planning meeting they will travel to The Village Pizzeria at 16 Pleasant St in Mechanic Falls for lunch around 11am.  For more information please contact Steven Haycock at 998-2586 or at Granger04071@aol.com

Wayside Concert

The Katahdin Valley Boys bring their bluegrass to the Wayside Theatre on Sat. August 22 at 7 pm.

The Katahdin Valley Boys is one of Maine’s most popular and award-winning bluegrass bands.  Their repertoire of traditional and contemporary bluegrass and Gospel music features tight harmonies and smooth solos.  Influences include Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Blue Highway and the Lonesome River Band.
