Fairview Grange Renewal Celebration
A very special event is being held next Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 at the Fairview Grange in Smithfield. Larry Ross, retired school teacher who I met about 10 years ago when my kids had him for their enrichment resources teacher is our speaker. I can’t begin to scratch the surface on Larry and his contributions to his fellow-man. Feel free to Google “Lindbergh Crate” “Larry Ross” “Wreathes Across America” “Wounded Warrior” and something will pop up. As you may recall, Fairview Grange is going through a “renewal or rejuvenation” after nearly giving up its charter in 2013. We’re working collaboratively with the North Pond Association and Duratherm Windows to benefit the grange, its building and its property. With new members and a focus on the future and on becoming an open door community center, inclusive, rather than exclusive–it’s growing! Larry’s talk will be more upbeat and addressing hope for the future, possibilities, collaborations, and on being the people we were as a nation on September 12th. I invited him on the 10th rather than the on 9/11 in hopes we can look forward. Respect for the past with an eye on the future. The world is still a very ugly place. Listen to the news or read a newspaper. I will guarantee your time spent will be well spent. I would like to challenge Maine State Grange leaders to attend to see what is possible. Free, open to the public and refreshments will be served. Best regards, Rick Watson, Overseer, Fairview Grange. We have a Facebook page, email me or cell 944-6497.

Sagadahoc Pomona (the county level of Grange) will host a neighborhood picnic at Enterprise Grange #48, 15 Alexander Reed Road, Richmond, ME on Wednesday, Aug. 26th. The town playground is directly behind the hall so it’s a great place for your kids.
Beverages, salads, ketchup, mustard, watermelon and ice cream will be provided. Bring your own meat & buns or a casserole to share or a sandwich. Everyone is invited: Grangers, guests, friends, neighbors.
Join the games or just visit or play cribbage inside the hall while the more energetic play. It is Sagadahoc County, but not limited to that. ALL are welcome. Don’t know what Grange is all about? Go and find out!!
If it rains, we will adapt to inside the hall. Still have the relays, but not all the lawn games.
